A research topic for DE that could be beneficial would be a retro type study. 

Big Question : Just how much did a person learn (retain) from an online class?

In certain fields, people need to take tests to get certified, accrediated, licensed, exit exams and comps.  Is there a higher pass rate for online classes vs traditinon classes? 

This could be studied by one professor teaching the same class regular and online.  Yeah, there will be some variances and discrepancies but there is in any study.
